Timothy P. Rearden, M.D.
Dr. Rearden developed an interest in the field of medicine at an early age. He received high school credit assisting his home town physicians in the operating rooms and their private clinic practices. He graduated from North County High School in Desloge, Missouri in 1975. Dr. Rearden graduated with a B.S. in Biology from Southeast Missouri State University in 1979. He received a Master’s Degree in Medical Microbiology from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1981. His research interest was in the development of vaccines to prevent gram negative bacterial infections. Dr. Rearden graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia, School of Medicine in 1985. He completed his internal medicine residency at Letterman Army Medical Center in San Francisco, California. He then completed his medical oncology and hematology fellowship at Letterman Army Medical Center and the University of California, San Francisco Cancer Research Institute in 1992. Dr. Rearden is ABIM board certified in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology.
Dr. Rearden spent 10 years on active duty in the United States Army as a medical officer. He was the Assistance Chief of the Hematology Oncology Department at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington. He was an Instructor of Medicine for the University of Washington, Internal Medicine Department. Dr. Rearden’s responsibilities included medical training for interns, residents and hematology/oncology fellows. He was directly involved with local and national hematology and oncology research protocols. He was assigned to a MASH unit and participated in numerous military training exercises. Dr. Rearden considers his military career and his service to his country as one of his greatest lifetime accomplishments.
Dr. Rearden joined Hematology Oncology Consultants, Inc. in June 1995. He serves on the Broad of Directors for Christian Hospital. Dr. Rearden is the Medical Director of the Christian Hospital Cancer Care Center, and serves as the hospital's Principle Investigator for the Southwest Oncology Group national research consortium. He is active in local and national research protocols. Dr. Rearden’s research accomplishments include medical journal publications and presentations at national/international medical meetings. He is an Instructor of Clinical Medicine for Washington University, School of Medicine. He continues to enjoy direct involvement in training and development of medical students. Dr. Rearden has been listed in "Best Doctors in St Louis" and "Best Doctors in America" since 2002.
